The Nomad Hiker on Training Wheels

It's the last day of my weeklong vacation. Starting on a train ride from Sorrento Valley, a connecting bus ride from Los Angeles to Bakersfield and the much longed for train ride through San Joaquin Valley along the foothills of Sierra Nevada, I can't wait to go back to the world of beautiful sinus rhythms and arrhythmias. Why, thank you  Zee!

The last time I blogged about MTRP, I was with the Sack Buddha, the other glorious holy shit, as a slacking hiker.  I have just been looking at Amtrak's Southwest Chief routes and the urge of crashing on Hema's Grand Canyon sequel hike is just too tempting. The MTRP would be a good conditioning ground in order  to keep up with hard core hikers, if not the whole way, at least half way.
The half as old hag with the old dam and the not so new bike takes a break. The historical landmark referring to the Kumeyaays as "Indian Laborers" once again immortalizes the blunder made by historians who probably thought "Indios" was the same as Indians.
MTRP is also contrasting histories immortalized for generations to come.
The western part of the park.

My favorite bike path in San Diego.
